Abstract

Application Security Testing (AST) is critical in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities within software applications. With the growing concerns over data breaches and cyber-attacks, there is an increasing demand for robust application security solutions. This paper explores and compares the efficacy of Open Source and Commercial Application Security Testing Tools. We analyze these tools based on criteria such as functionality, cost, ease of integration, and accuracy in vulnerability detection. The study evaluates various tools in each category and presents a comparative analysis to help organizations choose the appropriate solution based on their requirements and resources. This paper concludes with insights into the advantages and disadvantages of both types of tools, emphasizing that the choice of tool depends on specific organizational needs, security requirements, and budget constraints.
