Abstract

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has revolutionized how organizations approach data privacy and security. With applications increasingly processing sensitive personal data, ensuring compliance with GDPR while maintaining robust security has become a critical challenge. Application Security Testing (AST) offers a framework to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in software systems. This manuscript examines the integration of GDPR principles, such as privacy-by-design, data minimization, and accountability, into AST methodologies. A systematic approach to embedding GDPR-aligned practices into AST is proposed, emphasizing practical implementations and measurable outcomes. Results indicate significant improvements in compliance, security posture, and user trust when GDPR principles are rigorously applied during security testing. The manuscript concludes with a discussion on the scope, limitations, and future implications of privacy-driven application security testing.
