Abstract

The rise of enterprise applications has revolutionized organizational operations but has also introduced significant cybersecurity risks. Security certifications, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI DSS, are widely adopted as benchmarks for maintaining secure systems. This paper evaluates the impact of these certifications on reducing vulnerabilities in enterprise applications. By analyzing trends across certified and non-certified organizations and examining real-world case studies, the study provides an evidence-based assessment of certifications' effectiveness. Results reveal that while security certifications contribute to improved security hygiene, their implementation often falls short of addressing dynamic and advanced threats. The findings underscore the importance of integrating certifications with adaptive security practices for sustainable risk mitigation.
