Abstract

Mission-critical applications in the aviation industry are fundamental to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of operations. With the increasing reliance on complex software systems and connected technologies, these applications are vulnerable to a wide array of cyber threats, ranging from insider attacks to sophisticated external breaches. This manuscript explores the challenges of securing mission-critical applications in aviation, providing a detailed case study of a recent security breach, followed by an analysis of best practices for strengthening these applications. Through examining existing literature, reviewing successful security strategies, and presenting a methodology for evaluating risk and securing systems, this paper offers a comprehensive approach to maintaining the integrity of aviation applications. The results of implementing recommended practices in a real-world scenario are discussed, showcasing the potential for minimizing risks and enhancing operational resilience.
